2000 years historic data suggests violence is on a decline, yet current statistics suggest:

Children Maltreatment: A quarter of all adults report having been physically abused as children. One in 5 women and 1 in 13 men report having been sexually abused as a child.
Violence against women: Global estimates published by WHO indicate that about 1 in 3 (35%) women worldwide have experienced either physical and/or sexual intimate partner violence or non-partner sexual violence in their lifetime.
Youth Violence: Worldwide some 200 000 homicides occur among youth 10–29 years of age each year, which is 43% of the total number of homicides globally each year.
